About

Originally from the foothills of North Carolina, Anna is a Roanoke, Virginia based artist. She was raised by a pastor dad and a mom with an art degree which made conversations about art always braided together with conversations about God.

Though never receiving formal training, she aims to let her art permeate any space she is allowed into. Anna’s work is largely oriented toward portraiture which is influenced by her undergraduate and graduate degrees in social work and counseling. The main populations she has served are those facing homelessness, addictions, and domestic violence within residential shelters where she taught painting classes and painted portraits of the residents.

Anna’s primary mediums include charcoal, printmaking, acrylic paint, and watercolor. Her goal in her art is to invite people to take second looks and linger. Whether explicitly or implicitly, each piece is meant as an invitation to see something redemptive about God and neighbor.
